2nd International Workshop on
Cloud Turbulence
March 8 to 10, 2017
Nagoya Institute of Technology, Nagoya, Japan
Scope
Cloud and turbulence are important keys in weather forecasting and climate prediction, yet our knowledge of them is very limited. Inside cloud the turbulent air flow transfers, mixes, and entrains heat, vapor, aerosols, ices, cloud droplets, and rain drops. At the same time, these modify the turbulent flow at very wide range of scales, which is a highly non-linear non-equilibrium complex system, cloud turbulence.
There have been many progresses in the research of thermodynamic processes and turbulence dynamics in clouds since the 1st workshop. The purpose of the workshop is to bring the new knowledge and findings in the atmospheric phenomena from the micro scale (cloud droplets) to meso scale (typhoon) and in the turbulence dynamics and modeling, and to review and discuss individual and common physics from the view point of the cloud turbulence. Through the discussion and dialogues the participants get wider perspectives for the future research of the problems of cloud turbulence and explore possibilities of cooperation and collaboration to expand the new horizon of this research area.
